2025 Aquatic Capital of America Annual Business Plan and Summary of Prior Year

 

Our Mission

Aquatic Capital is dedicated to inspire and empower our community to achieve excellence in water-based activities and in life.

 

Our Vision

Aquatic Capital will operate as a primary steward to promote and increase participation in water-based activities in the greater Long Beach area.  

 

“Waterproof Our Youth”
  1. Drowning is the second leading cause of death for kids under 14

  2. Nationwide, it is estimated 50% of kids can’t swim

  3. In underserved neighborhoods in Long Beach, 85% of kids can’t swim

  4. If you can’t swim … you can’t participate in any of the great aquatic opportunities we can provide in Long Beach. 

  5. Aquatic Capital of America is dedicated to getting our youth in or on the water!

 

2024 Summary of Achievements
  1. 300 underserved youth swimming lessons (“Waterproof Our Youth” Fund)
    • 180 Long Beach City College
    • 50 Los Altos YMCA
    ​• 70 Fairfield YMCA​

  2. 20 Underserved Youth Swim Team - Fairfield YMCA (“Waterproof Our Youth” Fund)

  3. $1,000 Swim Suits and Equipment - Fairfield YMCA (Equipment Fund)

  4. The above programs were performed for $31,000

  5. A Record Breaking Naples Swim 
    • 731 Swimmers
    • 98 YMCA scholarship kids (underserved youth)
    • 1 blind swimmer and 3 paraplegic swimmers
    ​• $7,000 raised for “Waterproof Our Youth”

  6. A Successful Awards Banquet Evening with about 200 attendees!

 

2025 Projects and Goals 
  1. 400 Kids through our “Waterproof Our Youth” program.

  2. Initiate High School “Waterproof Our Youth” program LB Poly HS Pilot June 2025.

  3. Initiate “ Grants for Gear” High School Equipment program Oct 2025.

  4. Create NEW ACOA Website March 2025.

  5. ACOA Annual Awards Ceremony will be held Thursday, May 21st at Keesal, Young and Logan Catalina Landing Location.

  6. ACOA Hall of Fame Ceremony at Pete Archer Rowing Center Thursday, September 18, 2025

  7. Long Beach Gives 2025 campaign begins in September.

  8. Our 2025 fund raising goal for our Youth Aquatics programs is $50,000

  9. Our partnership with Naples Island Swims continues and 2025 proceeds will again support the Waterproof Our Youth Program.
